What Is LOCK-ON About?

The mod kicks off with a high-energy clash between two iconic characters: Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna. But instead of just brawling, they’re trading bars in a series of rhythm-based battles. The concept is inspired by the opening cutscene ofSonic the Hedgehog 3, which sets the tone for the mod's story and music selection.

It’s not just about hitting notes — the mod captures the spirit of the Sonic series with fast-paced tracks, colorful visuals, and character interactions that fans will instantly recognize. And if you're playing on a device that doesn't support the original .exe file, you're in luck — this mod has been ported to the web for easy access.

Tracklist & Highlights

So far, the mod features three distinct songs, each paying tribute to different eras and themes from the Sonic games:

1. Lock-On

A high-octane opener that introduces the central conflict. This track sets the pace with rapid-fire lyrics and challenging note patterns that test even experienced players.

2. Lore

Dive deeper into the lore of the rivalry with a song that balances intensity and nostalgia. It's a great showcase of how the mod blends storytelling with rhythm gameplay.

3. Portable

This fan-favorite track gives a fresh take on the classic Sonic sound, complete with remixed vocals and dynamic instrumentals. It's one of the more technically demanding songs in the setlist.

Each level comes with its own visual flair and animated sequences, making every playthrough feel like a mini-adventure within the FNF world.

Developer Insights

“LOCK-ON was a Sonic mod idea by me and Pancho after we both realized we really wanted to make a Sonic mod based on the Sonic 3 intro cutscene. Now it’s become a thing we’ll try to regularly update with goofy songs based on other classic Sonic moments! There’s currently 3 songs but more will be soon to follow! The passion behind the project shines through in every detail, from the character designs to the carefully crafted audio.
